Fleming S.T.E.A.M. Magnet Center

Magnet enrollment now open!!!

2018-2019 LATE APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED!!!

College and Career Ready is our Goal!

The Fleming S.T.E.A.M. Magnet program has been designed to focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).  Students enrolled in the Fleming Magnet program are provided with an enriched curriculum to help develop 21st century skills through all four academic disciplines: language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science.  The U.S. Department of Education recently noted that:

"In a world that’s becoming increasingly complex, where success is driven not only by what you know, but by what you can do with what you know, it’s more important than ever for our youth to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to solve tough problems, gather and evaluate evidence, and make sense of information. These are the types of skills that students learn by studying science, technology, engineering, and math—subjects collectively known as STEM."

Fleming Magnet teachers work together through grade-level teams, using interdisciplinary projects, and emphasizing the technology skills necessary to succeed in high school, college, and careers in the STEM fields.  To strengthen the experiences of our Magnet students at Fleming, students have many opportunities to explore their interests.  Some elective classes include:

Cultural Geography

Creative Writing

Art

Exploration Science

Journalism Robotics

Leadership

Web Development

Intro. to Computers
